How Do I Know if I Should See a Physical Therapist?

How Do I Know if I Should See a Physical Therapist?

I’m just posting a quick link here to an article I wrote for Northern Virginia Magazine. They suggested the topic as something their readers would be interested in. The article came out this week, and I have received a lot of good feedback about it. I wanted to make it available, so that if you want to link to it, or print it and share with your contacts, you can do so. Please just provide credit to me and link to my website. Seattle town car. This is an example of what we can do locally to increase awareness of what physical therapy is, and how we can help people. It’s important for us to interact with local media to educate readers, and at the same time, it provides “free” marketing in a publication that reaches my target audience. TAKE ACTION! Medicare Opt Out Legislation

TAKE ACTION! Just a quick note as a follow up to this post: Thanks to Jason Bellamy, Director, Web & New Media, APTA for letting me know about a new action item regarding the ability of physical therapists to opt out of Medicare. On March 21, 2013, Representative Tom Price (R-GA) introduced the Medicare Patient Empowerment Act of 2013 (HR 1310), which would provide physical therapists with the ability to privately contract with Medicare beneficiaries. Everyone can take action on this issue – APTA members, non members, patients and other healthcare professionals! How to Take Action APTA has posted information on Medicare private contracting (“opt out”) in its federal issues area, which includes links for members and nonmembers to be able to take action: http://www.apta.org/FederalIssues/PrivateContracting/ The template action letter can be personalized – it’s a quick and effective way to let your voice be heard. Unfortunately, the Opt Out legislation isn’t one of APTA’s “priority” legislative issues for 2013, which makes it even more necessary to keep the grass roots energy going! Please take a minute to speak out for our profession.

Happy Holidays and Thank You!

Happy Holidays and Thank You!

Hi everyone! I wanted to take a moment and say thank you for a successful 2012! Prana Physical Therapy would not be what it is today without your participation and support. best online personal loan sites A little over a year ago I walked away from a steady job to follow my dream of partnering with motivated individuals to provide personalized, quality care. In one year, I went from an empty schedule to reaching my target goal of patients per week, all while running a 100% cash based practice. This is nothing short of a miracle, and happened largely because of the amazing people that chose me as their provider. My practice has grown to include not only physical therapy, but also wellness services, nutrition and lifestyle consulting, mentoring and business consulting, writing, and presenting at conferences. I am excited and passionate about going to work every day, and I continue to meet amazing people every day through this work. I wish you a healthy, joyful holiday season, and look forward to helping you achieve YOUR dreams in 2013! Be well! Ann

Catching Up

Sorry for the lack of posts on the blog in the past month! Here is a quick update of the fun things I have been up to: I have joined the Consulting Team for Whole 9 Life. I am so thrilled and honored to join such a talented, bright group! Here is a link to the services I now offer (just scroll down the page): http://whole9life.com/personal-consulting/ and here’s a link to my guest post for the blog: http://whole9life.com/2012/05/ann-wendel/ On a day when I thought things couldn’t get any better, my guest post for Robb Wolf’s blog went live on the same day as my post for Whole 9 Life! http://robbwolf.com/2012/05/18/paleo-autoimmune-illness/ I am still pinching myself to make sure I am awake! In the midst of all that excitement in the virtual world, we had some exciting happenings in the physical world! We moved to a new office space on May 1st, right across the street from our old space. Prana Physical Therapy at Core Wellness and Physical Therapy is now at 2212 Mount Vernon Ave. in the Del Ray neighborhood of Alexandria. We are ecstatic about our new, freestanding office, with storefront space in the heart of a neighborhood with a great deal of walk-by traffic. We had a great opportunity to meet with local residents during May’s First Thursday Health and Wellness Celebration. Stop by and see our beautiful new space, complete with a large, open gym area, Pilates Reformer, plenty of fun rehab equipment (Kettlebells, Pilates mat tools, bands and the dreaded foam rollers), and 2 private treatment rooms. Look for more health and wellness related classes and workshops to come soon! My monthly post for WebPT recently went up as well – the topic was new Tweet Chats for Physical Therapists and Healthcare Providers: http://www.webpt.com/blog/post/solvept-and-socialortho I am […]
